Thailand Growing Season 2024 Tours
Spend two weeks exploring the best Thailand has to offer hosted and guided by the Zomia team. You will have the chance to experience everything from the culinary delights of the bustling megacity of Bangkok to the serene natural vibes of the small villages in Isan.
We will spend a considerable amount of time visiting traditional landrace growing communities, immersing ourself into the lifestyle of the growers.

Day 1:
Arrive in Bangkok and check-in to your hotel. A Zomia team member will meet you at the airport and escort you to the hotel where you will meet the rest of the group and take some time to get to know each other. Lunch will be at a famous Thai restaurant for some delicious hand-made noodles. In the afternoon we will head to a local dispensary for an explainer on Thai Landraces, Thailand and the tour itself.
For dinner, head to the Rot Fai Train Night Market for a uniquely Thai cultural experience and some delicious street food from all over the country! After your delicious meal, we will go to visit a rooftop dispensary downtown to enjoy some local ganja ahead of a 2 hour Thai massage and spa experience.
Optional night time visits to Khlong Toei fresh market and/or Soi Cowboy, Soi Nana can be arranged.
Day 2:
Wake up and go have breakfast at a famous Khao Man Gai Restaurant before heading off to the old town to see the sights, including the Royal Palaces, Temples and Giant Buddha. Later, we'll enjoy lunch in Bangkok's Chinatown before spending the afternoon visiting dispensaries and sampling the best local products. In the evening, we will head for a meal at a restaurant serving ancient 'Royal Thai' cuisine.
At night time you will be free to go explore Bangkok's nightlife on your own or to join the team for some bar-hopping.
Day 3:
Once you wake up and have a good breakfast at our hotel, pack up your things and join us on as we begin our journey towards the traditional Thai-Stick producing area and landrace growing area of Nakhon Phanom in Thailand's North East.
The drive to Don Mueang Airport will take about 45 minutes before we all take a short 1 hour flight to Nakhon Phanom Airport.
There, a van will be waiting for us to take us into Nakhon Phanom town to check into our hotel.
Once you have unpacked all of your things, relax until lunch time at which point we will all gather to go try the famous noodle soup of Isan, Quitiao at a delicious nearby eatery.
In the afternoon, we will go to see Ho Chi Minh's house and museum and learn about the Vietnam war and how it affected the local area here in Isan.
Day 4:
We start the day with a delicious local Vietnamese/Isan fusion breakfast before heading to meet Prempravee and spend the day around her farm and village.
On arrival, spend some time getting to know your hosts for the day before starting on a cooking class and history lesson about Thai Sticks, production in the local area and Cannabis in Thailand in general. Afterwards, you will learn how to make traditional Isan foods including the famous 'Boat Noodles' cooked with Ganja.
After eating a big spread of all the food we cooked for lunch, we will go and tour the surrounding areas and their fields for the afternoon, taking time to meet and talk with the farmers and get to know more about the traditional culture and village life in Phon Sawan.
In the evening, we will have a big barbecue Isan style with lots of singing and fun with the locals. Prempravee's homegrown Cannabis will be available to smoke throughout the day, but after the Barbecue we will sit down and have a proper tasting where we can compare all of the different varieties available.
Day 5:
Today we will try a different style of Vietnamese/Isan local breakfast at a popular nearby eatery before heading off to Ban Phaeng, a nearby village and a massive hub for the production and transportation of refined Cannabis products such as pressed bricks and Thai sticks in the area.
Once we arrive, we will spend some time getting to know the local area and our hosts for the day before heading out to visit the fields of the local area. Spend some time examining the various phenotypes of the local landrace as well as talking with our hosts about why Ban Phaeng is so important as well as the history and current state of landrace cannabis production here.
After a light lunch at the local fresh Market street food stalls, we will go to see a brick pressing facility and learn about the intricacies of pressing brick and making Thai sticks at from skilled local artisans before continuing our tour of the local farms.
In the evening we will head back to Nakhon Phanom for dinner on the banks of the Mekong eating and hanging out with the locals while sampling the fruits of the day!
Day 6:
Waking up bright and early, we will go to get breakfast at a local eatery before leaving to visit the Phu Phan mountains, the historical and current heart of Landrace Cannabis cultivation and Thai stick production in the country.
Once we arrive, we will spend some time getting to know the local area and our hosts for the day before heading out to visit the fields.
Spend some time examining the various phenotypes of the local landrace while chatting with our hosts who will explain anything you'd like about the complexities and nuances of Cultivation in this area.
We'll have lunch at the farm and spend some time learning how the locals here process their flower and produce Thai sticks. You will get to see some of the last remaining old timers and ask them any questions you might have while they teach you how they made Thai sticks back in the day.
Afterwards, depending on how long you want to spend on the Thai Sticks, we will go the nearby swimming hole at Kok Sa Plio and chill out on the riverside with the locals, eat a good barbecue dinner and try all of the local delicacies before heading back for the night to Nakhon Phanom.

Important information:
Pack Light! Bring as little as possible. You likely want as much space as possible in your setup to bring souvenirs home. So plan for it!
Day time temps will range from 25-40°C and night time temps from 20-35°C.
Make sure your equipment is decent enough to do it's job! Especially don't cheap out on shoes or a good rain jacket.
Speaking of clothes, basic laundry facilities are available everywhere.
Money exchange facilities are also everywhere in Thailand, so don't sweat it.
