Description:

Erawan is a mysterious and legendary strain rumored to have originated in the misty highlands of Mae Hong Son in Northern Thailand. This variety, sometimes called White Elephant or Airavata, embodies the ancient sativa characteristics of traditional Thai landraces, known for their towering heights, vigorous growth, and potent psychoactive effects.

These 2-4 metre monsters are renowned for their high yields and pungent aroma, exuding complex terpene profiles ranging from sweet tropical fruit to musky incense with underlying earthy and citrus notes.

The plants produce long, resin-coated colas with a frosty, crystalline appearance, maintaining the classic NLD (Narrow Leaf Drug) structure associated with ancient Southeast Asian sativas.

While the exact genetic history of Erawan is shrouded in mystery, its adaptability and resilience have allowed it to be cultivated successfully in multiple regions across Thailand, from the misty mountains of Mae Hong Son to the humid river plains of Nakhon Phanom and the tropical climates of Trang.

Erawan's psychoactive effects are powerfully uplifting and euphoric, inducing a clear-headed cerebral high that is energetic and long-lasting — perfect for those seeking the authentic Thai sativa experience.

Context:

The true origin of Erawan remains a mystery, contributing to its legendary status among Thai landraces. Oral histories suggest that it originated in the remote highlands of Mae Hong Son, where traditional hill tribes have cultivated cannabis for centuries. These communities utilized cannabis not only as a medicinal herb but also as a spiritual aid in animist rituals.

The strain’s name, Erawan, is derived from the mythological white elephant, an important symbol in Thai and Hindu cultures representing power, wisdom, and prosperity. It is believed that this variety was named for its towering stature and majestic appearance, akin to the mythical Airavata, the three-headed white elephant ridden by the Hindu god Indra.

Despite its ancient roots, Erawan has remained relatively unknown outside of local Thai communities. It was preserved in secretive, hidden plots during the prohibition, passed down through generations of traditional farmers via informal seed exchange networks amongst the Thai stoner community.
