Day 1:

Arrive in Delhi and check-in to your hotel. A Zomia team member will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel where you will meet the rest of the group, team and take some time to get to know each other ahead of our journey to the Himalayas. In the afternoon take a guided tour of the city to experience its vibrant culture and in the evening join us for a delicious street food tour highlighting the best New Delhi has to offer.

After our dinner, we will depart for the mountains.

Day 2:

Upon arrival, check-in to your homestay, meet your hosts and spend the day getting to know the village and it's idyllic surroundings set amongst apple orchards and a constellation of small tended plots of cannabis and stands of feral plants.

Otherwise the day is free for rest.

Meals will be available throughout the day and be served Himachali style.

Day 3:

After a delicious local breakfast - we depart early on our first trek.

A full day of walking with plentiful breaks for food, drinks and smokes interspersed throughout will take us near the top of the pass where we will camp for the night.

We will be trekking up past Pulag Village to on a combination of trails and dirt roads up until we reach the trail 'proper' which consists of single track. Ascending through the bands of the various local ecotypes, you will have the chance to really take in the impressive natural beauty of the valley as we make our way up from about 1900m to 3400m or so over the course of about 9 kilometres of trail.Our ultimate goal for the day is a hollow right under the crest of the Chanderkhani Pass.

Once there, we will cook up a local meal and smoke some chilam around a fire before turning in for the night.

Day 4:

After a restful night at the top of the Chanderkhani Pass, you'll continue your trek towards Malana. The trek from the top of the Chanderkhani Pass to Malana will take you down from the meadows and ridge line into the forests on a very steep winding trail. As you descend, you'll be able to take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains, you may also take some time to check them out and see the diversity of phenotypes found in the famous Malana ‘Upper’ fields. As you approach Malana, you'll notice the change in the atmosphere as you enter a village steeped in tradition and culture. Upon arrival, you'll check-in to your home stay and have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the village. You'll learn about the unique culture and customs of the local people and their rich history while admiring the beautiful architecture of the village temple and surrounding buildings. Spend the evening getting to know your hosts and the local community, taking some time to explore the village at your leisure. At night we will have a proper session tasting many different grades and ‘hands’ of the famous Malana cream.

Day 6:

Day 5:

Once finished your delicious breakfast and after a roam around the village, set off on your trek to Nirang. Our guide will lead the trek, which will take around 2 hours and offers beautiful views of the valley. The trail winds over streams and past waterfalls, providing you with an opportunity to see the Toshco and Old Malana village fields.

Upon arrival in Nirang, check-in to your home stay and spend the evening relaxing and getting to know the local community. Savour a traditional home-cooked meal and enjoy the serene surroundings with another tasting of local charas, this time sourced from the villages surrounding Malana including Nirang.

Today you'll embark on an exciting trek to Rasol, passing through the picturesque Rasol Pass. The trail winds through dense forests and over cascading streams, offering you a chance to spot a diverse range of wildlife and marvel at the natural beauty of the region. As you approach the Rasol Pass, you'll be greeted with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making it a perfect spot to stop, smoke some chilams and take in the splendour of your surroundings. Upon arrival in Rasol, you'll check-in to your home stay, where you'll be welcomed by the warm hospitality of the local community. Take some time to explore the area, perhaps take a stroll to nearby waterfalls and hang out with some locals or have a look at the village temple. In the evening, indulge in another charas tasting, this time focused on the cream of Rasol and its nearby slopes.

Day 7:

Spend a leisurely day in Rasol, immersing yourself in the local culture and traditions. Take a guided hike to nearby Vairam ‘Top’ (3100m) to see the picturesque landrace cannabis fields, where you'll learn about the traditional methods of cultivation and even have the opportunity to pheno hunt some nice accessions and collect some seeds. Alternatively, simply relax and soak in the serene atmosphere of the mountain village, taking in the stunning views and peaceful surroundings. In the evening, indulge in a delicious Rasoli meal and share some chilams with the locals.

Day 8:

Trek from Rasol down to Chalal after breakfast and on to Kasol returning to lower altitudes for the first time since day 2. Take some time to shop around in Kasol market where among other things you can find the rare and expensive Italian clay chilams often sported proudly by locals and the artisans who make them. After some lunch you’ll take a jeep to the trailhead below Grahan where we will begin trekking again to Grahan via the riverside cannabis terraces making our way up to the Pulgi side of Grahan where our homestay is. Upon arrival, check-in and spend the evening relaxing and getting to know the local community.

Day 9

Spend several days exploring Grahan village and the surrounding area. Take guided hikes to nearby cannabis fields in, around and above the village, exploring the diversity of expression in the landrace genepool here all the while enjoying the natural beauty and dramatic views. Cool off after trekking through the terpene laden fields with a dip at the glacier fed waterfall before hanging out in the village with locals absorbing the lore and traditions over some chilams.

Day 10:

Today we will hold a charas rubbing workshop with local artisans teaching you how to select plants and manipulate them to get the cleanest, terpiest hand of cream. Afterwards we can share in the fruits of our harvest together!

Day 13:

Travel back to Delhi, check-in to your hotel, and take some time to rest and freshen up before your departure. In the evening, take a guided tour of the city to experience its culture and cuisine one last time.

Day 14:

After breakfast, check-out from your hotel and depart from Delhi. Our team member will arrange a taxi to the airport and assist with your departure.
